Northwestern University’s legal education began in 1907 with the Shaanxi Law and Politics School, which is one of the schools with the longest history in modern legal education in China. After the major reorganization of national higher education institutions in 1953, the Department of Law of Northwest University was one of the only four law departments of key comprehensive universities remaining in the country.
