What are the consequences of giving up the utility model to ensure the invention application?

When you apply for a patent for invention and a patent for utility model on the same day, in order to avoid repeated authorization, you will generally be asked to give up the utility model. Many people will worry that if the utility model is given up but the patent application is not authorized, it will be a loss. Actually, it's no problem. When you submit the statement of abandoning utility model, there is a special form, which clearly States that if the invention is authorized, you should abandon utility model. And the day when the patent right for utility model expires is the day when the invention patent is authorized. Paragraph 1 of Article 13 of the Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Patent Law states that the same invention-creation cannot be repeatedly authorized, so if your invention patent cannot be authorized, it will not affect the utility model.
