Which country did the telegraph originate from?

The telegraph originated in the United States.

Although some people began to develop telegraphs as early as the early 19th century, the invention of practical electromagnetic telegraphs is mainly attributed to British scientists John Cook, Wheatstone and American scientist Morse.

In 1836, John Cook built an electromagnetic telegraph and applied for the first telegraph patent the following year. Wheatstone was a collaborator with John Cook.

Today’s Telegraph

With the development of communication technology, telegraph is no longer the main communication method. Since the digitization of the telephone network, telegraph communication has become one of the text communication applications in the digital communication network, and was replaced by fax after the popularity of fax machines. As the Internet and mobile communications became more widely used, telegrams were further replaced by emails and text messages.

Most people no longer use telegraph communication. Traditional telegraph news (i.e. telegraph press releases) has also been replaced by fax, Internet and mobile phone text messages. Only in some very special old application environments do you occasionally see telegraph services using teletype machines.
