The large bridges designed by Sun Junling are distributed all over the world. The major international projects he has presided over or participated in have won the ENR (Engineering News-Record) Annual Engineering Award, known as the Oscar gold medal in the engineering field, three times. After returning to China, he presided over many projects and won the China Zhan Tianyou Award twice.
Served as the editor-in-chief of the "Design Specifications for Prestressed Concrete Segmental Precast Bridges" sponsored by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. He has obtained one authorized invention patent, three utility model patents and multiple other software copyrights.
In 2006, he returned to China and founded Guangzhou Hanyang Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd., and in 2011, he co-founded Guangdong Yutie Hanyang Technology Co., Ltd. with other partners. In 2011, he won the second Guangzhou Xinqiao Entrepreneurship Outstanding Contribution Award. In 2012, he was elected as a director of the University of California, San Diego Board of Trustees. In 2013, he was awarded the key overseas Chinese entrepreneurial team of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.
