The conference was themed "Accelerating Digital Transformation in Challenging Times", and government authorities, industry associations, telecom operators and ICT Industry representatives discussed hot topics such as 5G, industrial Internet, gigabit optical network, energy Internet, cloud network integration, etc. to explore new paths for digital transformation.
As the host of this conference, our province’s digital economy has made rapid progress in recent years, its basic capabilities have continued to improve, its status as a communication network hub has been continuously consolidated, and its industrial ecology has flourished. Especially in terms of 5G network construction and application, our province has planned ahead and built a 5G development model in which "demand drives supply and supply creates demand." As of the end of April, 46,700 5G base stations have been opened across the province, achieving full 5G network coverage in urban areas above the county seat. A good network foundation provides solid support for the development of new business formats such as intelligent manufacturing, Internet of Vehicles, and telemedicine.
Nationally, in the past two years since 5G was officially commercialized, it has achieved world-leading development achievements: 819,000 5G base stations, accounting for more than 70% of the world; 280 million 5G terminal links, accounting for more than 80% of the world ; 5G standard essential patents account for 38%, continuing to lead the world.
The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated at the meeting that the "14th Five-Year Plan" is a critical period for the large-scale application of 5G in my country. It will further expand applications in key industries, refine typical application scenarios, and promote 5G to empower thousands of industries. .
To this end, the five major communications central enterprises launched the "5G Empowering Industry Digitalization" joint action at the conference to promote the coordinated development of 5G. Among them, China Telecom released the "5G Cloud Network Security Platform" industry empowerment plan to create a digital base for "5G Cloud Network Security"; China Mobile launched four major plans for 5G empowerment of vertical industries; China Unicom released 5G empowerment industry integration and innovation actions , to create a 5G cloud-network integrated digital empowerment platform; China Radio and Television aims at 5G-enabled information dissemination new pattern actions; China Tower will transform traditional communication towers into "digital towers" and release digital towers to share the future action.
5G integrates the most advanced technology in the field of information and communications, and is a powerful driving force for advancing information and communications, with an obvious multiplication effect. It is estimated that by 2025, 5G will drive about 1.2 trillion yuan in network construction investment, drive 8 trillion yuan in related information consumption, and directly drive an economic added value of 2.93 trillion yuan, which brings broad opportunities to digital development.
