The principle of chopping wood with an axe

This is the lever principle.

Axe chopping wood is based on lever principle. When the axe splits at the wood, the sharp blade will split a crack first. When the axe pierces the wood, it will shift with the curvature of the head and its own counterweight, and then the wood will be pried open along the split crack.

Axe is a metal cutting tool, which consists of a wooden stick handle and a trapezoidal blade. It is divided into two parts: axe and axe handle. This tool is usually used for chopping wood, farm work and so on.
