What is a mold?

Mold as a special mechanical product, the mold industry as a special mechanical industry, cannot be like other mechanical industries & mechanical products. The mechanical products developed and manufactured cannot produce parts or mechanical products in this province. The theoretical design of the designer alone can basically guarantee the final required functions and usage requirements. That is to say, for most other mechanical products, if the processing process can be completely complete or achieve the design accuracy as much as possible and requirements, the final product will not deviate too much from the original design purpose, that is, a perfect design can produce a perfect product under the guarantee of processing conditions. At the same time, the design theoretical basis of this type of product has been passed through dozens of Even in some old capitalist countries, it has become very mature, very complete, and very practical due to hundreds of years of continuous research and actual production in some old capitalist countries, such as various machine tools and equipment, power equipment, etc.

Mold products are different, because whether it is high-temperature flow molding such as injection molding or die-casting or plastic molding such as stamping at room temperature, although it has a long history of research and application for decades, due to basic theory and mathematics The model is very imperfect and inaccurate, and there is still a lot of uncertainty. Especially in our country, most of them still need to rely on on-site debugging experience to make the mold products as perfect as possible and produce products that meet the needs of users. User requirements, so in the design stage, most of the work that can currently be done cannot be guaranteed in the entire mold manufacturing process and quality system, and can only serve as a "rough processing link"! ! That is to say, the quality of the mold ultimately depends on the craftsmanship of the fitter. The final peak showdown of mold products from different manufacturers may be a skill competition among mold fitters. In this industry, designers and early stages of the process Processing personnel can only play a supporting role in the peak showdown.

I don’t know, I didn’t say this, whether the majority of colleagues agree, but this is indeed a fact. No matter how perfect the mold design, no matter how good the drawings, no matter how expensive the equipment, at present, in the end To the mold fitters, the labor and wisdom of the previous ones are reflected. Without them, our design would probably be just a pile of scrap metal! ! !

In addition, at present, our research on mold structures, especially more complex mechanical structures (such as various wedge linkage mechanisms in automobile molds) seems not to be in-depth enough, and there are no further studies. Internationally leading technologies and even patents, as well as some advanced and complex structures, are mainly designed with reference to foreign precedents. The level of independent research and development is relatively weak. On the contrary, the level of fitter assembly and debugging of these mechanisms may be better than that of foreign countries. .

As mentioned before, the plastic forming theory and mathematical models are not perfect, resulting in incomplete stamping process analysis and formulation in the design stage, which requires a lot of debugging by fitters in the later stage. This problem may not be resolved for a while. There are reasons for designers to shirk responsibility for the temporary solution, but the level of the mechanical structure of the mold is not good, so we seem to be a bit guilty of this "flaw". Of course, I think This is also caused by many reasons.

First of all, relatively high-end mold mechanical structures are usually only used in more complex parts and processes, such as side panels, wing panels, engine hood lamination and other parts of cars. Domestic Because most of the automobile manufacturers are Sino-foreign joint ventures and other reasons, it is difficult for domestic mold companies to manufacture molds for such products. There are very few similar parts for new models. Therefore, we have very few practical opportunities. Some powerful manufacturers Maybe when there are fewer production tasks, we have carried out practical theoretical design, and the final effect is unknown to God but not to others! !

Secondly, even if they encounter such a difficult opportunity, most manufacturers may be desperate and try their best to find foreign original drawings before they can design. The final mechanical structure may There will be some improvements and improvements to turn them into mold products with Chinese characteristics, and they can even be exported to these countries. However, in the end it is still difficult to actually put the brand of "MADE IN CHINA" on it. Foreign pictures, Chinese steel, etc. Let’s not panic together, haha

So, our mold industry, no matter from design, R&D or mechanical processing, has the inherent defect of lack of original and independent technology. The only innate advantage may be the "ancestral" casting Today’s peak mold fitter skills evolved from the superb craftsmanship of “Ding Forged Sword”. The World Mold Fitter Competition was held that day. Our players’ voices for winning the championship were probably louder than A-Bian’s voices for stepping down. If you use me in the first battle, you will definitely win if you use me. ! !
