After the motorcycle runs 1000km, the carbon deposit in the exhaust pipe and muffler should be removed. Excessive carbon deposition in muffler will lead to blockage and affect the normal operation of motorcycle. Different types of motorcycle silencers have different structures, but the basic methods of removing carbon deposits in the system are similar. The main points are as follows.
Step 1: Remove the exhaust pipe, as shown in Figure 3-24a.
Step 2: Remove the bolts and pull out the diffuser (muffler core) with pliers, as shown in Figure 3-24b.
Step 3: heat the exhaust pipe, as shown in Figure 3-24c.
Step 4: Tap the exhaust pipe indirectly, as shown in Figure 3-24d.
Step 5: After removing the exhaust pipe and muffler, you can pull the four-stroke motorcycle with the old chain to remove the carbon deposit and dirt inside, as shown in Figure 3-24e.
Step 6: Clean the carbon deposit and dirt on the muffler with a steel brush, as shown in Figure 3-24f.
Step 7: Use a screwdriver and a steel brush to remove carbon deposits at the exhaust port, as shown in Figure 3-24g.

(2) Prevent the muffler from rusting
(1) The key is to prevent water from entering the muffler. When washing the car in winter or wet weather, the condensed water in the muffler should be prevented from increasing or entering the water. After finding water, start the engine to preheat at idle speed for at least10 min; Drain as much water as possible.
(2) If you don't use the motorcycle for a long time, start it to warm up every once in a while, which is of great help to prevent the muffler from rusting and prolong the service life of the engine.
(3) Prevent the muffler from discoloring
(1) When it is difficult to start the cold car in winter, close the choke valve, start the engine, and pay attention to open the choke valve in time after the hot car; It is forbidden to drive at high speed for a long time with the throttle closed.
(2) It is forbidden to install windshield or other decorative items in front of the engine and muffler when riding a motorcycle, which will affect the heat dissipation of the engine and muffler.
(3) Don't drive at low speed under heavy load for a long time, which will damage the engine and muffler. Don't slam on the accelerator for a long time. When there is oil stain on the muffler surface, the surface color will turn yellow or blue after hot car.
(4) When there is a lot of dirt and other dirt on the muffler surface, it should be cleaned in time to avoid affecting its heat dissipation. When removing the muffler, pay attention to whether the muffler is installed in place and fastened properly to prevent air leakage, so as not to affect the muffler effect and cause the muffler interface to yellow.
⑤ Maintenance of engine valve clearance, carburetor and air filter. Should be adjusted and cleaned in the insurance repair shop in time according to the instructions in the motorcycle driver's manual. The valve clearance is too small or the mixture is too rich or too thin, which will affect the combustion and cause the muffler to change color.
