Optical mold refers to the cavity-shaped fixture for injection molding optical products. Mold parts have very high production requirements, and some require mirror polishing. Generally, the optical accuracy Rt<0.5um, the roughness Ra<0.01um, and the smoothness reaches level 3.
For parts processing, we first use a spark machine to make the shape, and then surface treatment, such as polishing, etc. The most precise mirror polishing I have ever seen cannot be done in China now, and can only be sent abroad for processing. Optical molds also require high mold accuracy. If the front and rear molds are eccentric, the optical effect of the lens will not meet the requirements.
Optical mold polishing and plastic mold polishing are both polishing, but optical mold polishing requires higher surface roughness. For optical lenses, the surface roughness requirements are very high, but the curved surface and power of the lenses are also very demanding. Otherwise, the surface roughness of the lens will increase, but if the curved surface and power error of the lens are too large, the lens will also be defective or scrapped.
