The invention patent shall be published within 18 months from the default filing date (the earliest priority date). The biggest difference between the application process of invention patent, utility model patent and design patent is that the invention needs substantive examination. The applicant shall make a request for substantive examination within 3 years from the date of application (the earliest priority date). In order to speed up the examiner's examination of the application documents, it is also possible to submit a substantive examination request at the same time as submitting the application documents. The utility model or design patent can be authorized within 6- 10 months after it has passed the preliminary examination. After obtaining the patent application certificate, the applicant can go through the patent registration formalities in about three months.
