Guangdong Ocean University is a provincial key construction university established by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Natural Resources. It is a comprehensive ocean university with coordinated development of multiple disciplines. An excellent institution is a key discipline construction institution for high-level universities in Guangdong Province. The Yangjiang Campus in Yangjiang City (No. 1 Luoqin Road, Jiangcheng District) is adjacent to Luoqin Mountain, one of the eight scenic spots in Yangjiang, to the west and the beautiful Luoqin Lake to the south. The total planned land area is 3,500 acres, and the first phase of the construction project covers 512 acres. It has been completed in June 2021. The campus has five colleges including the School of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the School of Computer Science and Engineering, the School of Food Science and Engineering, and the School of Business. The second phase plans to build 7 colleges and 30 majors. The school currently has 2,520 faculty members, including 1,775 full-time teachers, 667 associate professors or above, and 741 doctoral degree holders; 91 doctoral supervisors and 494 master's supervisors; and 15 strategic consulting experts in key disciplines, including academicians. 13 people, including 2 well-known professors; ***8 people were selected as Young Pearl River Scholars, leading talents in scientific and technological innovation of the "Sailing Project", and national-level training targets of the "Thousands and Hundreds Project" of Guangdong Provincial Higher Education Institutions, and 14 were provincial-level training targets. In the past five years, the school has undertaken 1,956 scientific research projects including the National Key Research and Development Plan, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Social Science Foundation, and hosted one National Natural Science Foundation key project and one Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Youth Project. Among them, there are 217 national-level projects; scientific research funding reaches 940 million yuan; 1,595 authorized patents have been obtained; 166 textbooks have been published; and 1,116 computer software copyrights have been obtained.
