Short-focus has low cost, and the fingerprint recognition position is generally low, but the recognition rate is high, which is the most common in OPPO mobile phone products of high, medium and low levels. The cost of ultra-thin lens is five times that of short lens, and the fingerprint identification position is more humanized, which is the mainstream solution of other domestic manufacturers.

What's so good about fingerprints under ultrasonic screen?
There is no doubt that the cost of fingerprints under ultrasonic screen is more expensive than that of optics. Previously, it was only used in Samsung Galaxy S20 series, Note20 series and S2 1 series. The performance of the first generation scheme is not good. The mobile phone has poor recognition rate and slow recognition speed in the case of film pasting, and its comprehensive experience is not as good as that of optics.
But later, Qualcomm introduced the second-generation ultrasonic fingerprint with a larger recognition area, which was carried by Samsung S2 1 Ultra, Meizu 18 Pro and IQOO 8 Pro. The most significant improvement is that the recognition speed is very open, almost "second unlocking".
Compared with the optical type, the fingerprint under the ultrasonic screen naturally has the following advantages: First, the information screen can also be unlocked. The contrast optics method needs the highest brightness of the screen to illuminate the fingerprint, which solves the problem of blindness when unlocking at night. Second, underwater and wet hands can still be unlocked;
In addition, the 3D ultrasonic wide-area fingerprint customized by Qualcomm on IQOO 8 Pro is larger than the previous recognition area, and enough data can be obtained by inputting the fingerprint and pressing it once when unlocking, which is very simple and sensitive. At the same time, the area is larger, which also brings "single finger verification" and "double finger verification", which is more secure. In addition, you can customize various functions for "two-finger verification", such as directly opening WeChat Alipay scan code, which greatly improves the playability.
In fact, not to mention the customization function on IQOO 8 Pro, the ultra-fast unlocking, large area identification, screen rest and wet hand unlocking brought by Qualcomm's second-generation ultrasonic screen fingerprint itself are enough to crush any optical screen fingerprint, and the actual experience brought to users will be fondled after use.
Why do domestic manufacturers rarely follow up the fingerprints on the ultrasonic screen?
Although fingerprint unlocking is a strong demand that everyone will use when using mobile phones, in fact, most people don't pay attention to it every day. The fingerprint under the optical screen is stable and fast enough, and the manufacturer will not take the initiative to ultrasonic, unless it is to highlight the selling point of the product.
More importantly, the fingerprint scheme under ultrasonic screen is only provided by Qualcomm at present, and the procurement cost is much higher than that of optics. OPPO Find series and one plus flagship are still fingerprinting with lower cost short focal length screen. It can be seen that the pressure of manufacturers in this respect is not great, and of course it is best to minimize the cost.
But for the actual experience of ordinary users, there is no doubt that fingerprints under the ultrasonic screen have brought great improvement. If you have used Samsung S2 1 series, Meizu 18 Pro, or IQOO 8 Pro, then you may find it hard to forget the fingerprints under the ultrasonic screen.
In 2022, if there are no accidents, IQOO and vivo parent brand flagship will be fingerprinted under the ultrasonic screen. With the adoption of more and more domestic flagships, it is believed that one day off-screen optical fingerprints will be completely replaced by ultrasonic waves.
