Is it effective to sell the appearance patent on the shelves before applying?

It is suggested to apply for an appearance patent before the product is put on the shelves for sale.

Otherwise, the patent application may not be authorized because of the first sale (the technical term of intellectual property is "first disclosure"), and even if it is authorized by luck, the subsequent patent protection will be invalid because of the inherent defects of the patent or the defendant will raise the risk of non-infringement by defending the existing technology.
