After more than 40 years of construction and development, the School of Water Conservancy and Civil Engineering of Shihezi University has formed its own characteristics and advantages in terms of school-running conditions and discipline construction, and all its work has continuously reached a new level. Agricultural soil and water engineering is one of the disciplines with a long history in Shihezi University. 199 1 awarded master's degree, 1998 was selected as "key discipline of bingtuan", and obtained the first-class master's degree in agricultural engineering in 2005.

This discipline grasps the academic frontier trends at home and abroad, devotes itself to scientific research with distinctive regional characteristics, solves engineering and technical problems, completes a number of key scientific and technological projects of the state, corps and enterprises, and obtains a number of scientific research achievements with regional characteristics and advantages that have certain influence at home and abroad. For example, the National Ninth Five-Year Plan major scientific and technological industrial engineering project "Agricultural high-efficiency water use mode and industrialization demonstration in irrigated agricultural areas in arid areas", the Corps Ninth Five-Year Plan major scientific and technological key project "Research and demonstration of comprehensive supporting technology for drip irrigation under plastic film for cotton" and the Xinjiang Tianye Group scientific and technological key project "Study on spray drip irrigation mode for cotton beet", some of the achievements have reached the domestic leading level. It has made positive contributions to promoting the technological progress and economic construction of water-saving agriculture in Xinjiang and XPCC, and achieved great economic and social benefits, further enhancing the academic competitiveness of the characteristic research direction formed over the years. This discipline has formed a stable research direction with distinct regional characteristics, such as new technologies for efficient agricultural water use, agricultural soil and water environment, engineering hydraulics and optimal allocation of water resources, and formed an academic echelon with young and middle-aged academic leaders and backbones as the main body, which has laid a foundation for sustainable development in discipline direction, academic team, personnel training, scientific research, basic conditions, academic exchange and management level, and developed into a discipline with obvious regional advantages in the same industry in China and certain influence in the northwest region.
