In the Beidou navigation project, 773 Institute took the initiative to undertake the research and development of four kinds of key products. Among them, the microwave switch is the router of the system microwave signal and plays a key role in the system "joint"; High-power high-frequency cable network is the transmission channel of microwave signals and the "blood vessel" for transmitting signals; Bus cable network is responsible for system control and is the "nervous system" of the system. Although the microwave switch is small, it involves many professional fields, including microwave, electromagnetism, mechanics, heat, materials, etc., and coupled with the multi-field coupling relationship between various fields, it is difficult to develop products, which is the reason why similar products have not been successfully developed in China for many years.
Of all the parts development tasks, 773 Institute got the task book at the latest. However, through the concerted efforts of the whole institute, after three months of overtime work, the institute submitted electrical components such as microwave switches as quickly as possible, and completed the development of electrical components at the earliest among all component development units, delivered them to users, and achieved the stage results of the development work.
The road to success has never been smooth sailing. Because many technical details are not completely understood, technical problems have appeared in various components one after another. In 213, the institute had a hard time in "returning to zero". It's gratifying that the chief engineer of Beidou project, relevant leaders and experts at all levels have visited the institute many times to study problems and formulate measures to bring care and support to everyone.
during this period, the institute has long implemented the "6+3" working system, that is, working at least 6 days a week and working overtime for at least 3 hours a day. Some leaders simply live in the office until the problem is solved.
How many weekends were supposed to be the warm moments of family reunion, and the leaders and teams of the institute had heated discussions and studied the scheme in the conference room; I don't know how many nights, everyone stared at bloodshot eyes and observed every detail of the sample under the microscope; I don't know how many holidays, when young people should have spent the whole month, but the young people in the research team spent it in constant exploration and racked their brains to find solutions to the problems.

in the process of "returning to zero", the L-band high-power microwave switch has always been a "hard bone" for the project. After careful research, the research team overthrew the structural scheme of foreign products, boldly designed a brand-new structure, broke through key technologies such as micro-discharge suppression, improved the threshold margin of micro-discharge of products, surpassed the level of foreign products, met the requirements of models, and had a large design margin.
after many times of verification, the product performance is stable and reliable, and it has been highly recognized by the model "Liangzong". The institute has also embarked on a technical route of positive design and independent innovation. Only one product, microwave switch, has declared 16 invention patents, which has opened up new product fields.
With the launch of two Beidou navigation satellites, microwave switches, bus cable networks and high-frequency cable components flew with the satellites for the first time. The institute has also taken an important step of localization and self-control of key components. (Zhang Lei)
