Literature and History Thesis: Zhou Yu in Official History

Today, when I turned to the book, I actually turned to the ancient word Su Shi, and I was quite touched. Most of our generation's knowledge of the history of the Three Kingdoms comes from Luo Guanzhong's Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Official history seems to be less popular.

Influenced by the inner emotion of the writing style of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Liu Bei was a righteous and kind party for a long time, while Cao Cao and Sun Quan were fierce and cunning villains, which were deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

In our minds, many famous figures in the Three Kingdoms period are derived from The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It's just that these images may be far from the images in real history.

Perhaps Zhou Yu, who has the reputation of "beautiful Zhou Lang in the south of the Yangtze River", is a typical example. I don't like Zhou Yu very much because of the romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Zhou Yu written by Luo Guanzhong is a narrow-minded and jealous person. Although he looks handsome, he is only on the surface.

In the story of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, he planted Liu Bei everywhere and did many despicable things. On the contrary, Zhuge Liang has a perfect personality and wisdom like a demon.

Zhuge Liang solved all Zhou Yu's tricks in an understatement and staged a series of classic bridges. Wonderful stories such as grass boat borrowing arrows, borrowing east wind and three qi Zhou Yu are also widely circulated today. Zhou Yu has completely become a supporting role in setting off Liu Bei's glorious image.

But is Zhou Yu really such an image in history? The official history of the Three Kingdoms. "Wu Zhi" records:

Zhou Yu was born in an official family. Although it can't be said that such a family background will certainly cultivate excellent talents, I think he has received a good family education and should not be a superficial person.

In the description of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Zhou Yu is a little weak. In the official history, Zhou Yu was described as "bodybuilding".

Zhou Yu is a soldier. It should be closer to the truth to describe him as handsome and strong in the official history. As the core general of Sun Group, he is highly valued.

He is the same age as overlord Sun Ce. Entrusted with an important task, he also married two sisters, Joe's, and became relatives with Sun Ce. These two are Er Qiao beauties in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The official history also mentioned the beauty of two women.

After Sun Ce's death, he assisted Sun Quan in handling military affairs. Sun Quan also trusted Zhou Yu, and many foreign wars were authorized to Zhou Yu. Before Cao Cao annexed Jingzhou and Battle of Red Cliffs, it was Zhou Yu who helped Sun Quan make up his mind to fight Cao Cao with Liu Bei.

In the official history of Battle of Red Cliffs, although Sun and Liu teamed up with the amphibious forces to attack Cao Cao, in terms of power contrast, Sun Quan shook Cao Cao hard and Liu Bei cooperated more.

During the war, I didn't see Zhou Yu deliberately trip up Liu Bei. Zhou Yu has been leading the army at the forefront to protect Liu Bei's side.

In the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the so-called straw boat borrows arrows and the east wind, which does not appear in the official history. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms describes that Zhou Yu offered to marry Sun Quan's sisters Sun Shangxiang and Liu Bei, which eroded his will. There was a drama of "the governor lost his wife and soldiers". Zhou Yu almost got angry.

But this should not happen in real history. Zhou Yu did put forward a plan to kill Liu Bei's will and divide his relationship with his subordinates, but Sun Quan did not adopt it. Reflection. Wu Zhi records:

Therefore, the story of "Sanyu" in Romance of the Three Kingdoms may not be true. However, the 51st chapter fragment of Coss' battle with Wu Dongbing and Kong Ming in Zhou Gongjin in the Romance may really be based on the official history:

The records in the reflection and Wu Zhi are very similar, except that the arrow hit Zhou Yu's right rib:

Luo Guanzhong's stories based on historical facts are really fascinating and regarded as real historical materials. Perhaps only master Jin Yong's martial arts novels have this effect?

In Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Zhou Yu died of anger. There is no such record in the official history, but it is recognized that he died of overwork. Before his death, he was still thinking about the development of Sun Shi. Wang Yizhou in Jingzhou is not a patent of Zhu Gekongming. Reflection. Wu zhizai:

The official evaluation of Zhou Yu is humorous and generous. I think Zhou Yu is very popular and will get along with others. Therefore, it should not be as narrow-minded as the romance of the Three Kingdoms. In the History of the Three Kingdoms, Zhou is described as a model of a famous minister and a good man, which is not bad compared with Zhuge Liang who died for him. Unfortunately, he died of illness at the age of 36. It's a pity that Luo Guanzhong twisted such a hero.

Before Yuan and Ming Dynasties, Zhou Yu had always been a positive image. How to become a negative textbook after Yuan and Ming Dynasties is interesting. . .
