What are the main technological methods of continuous casting? What are the characteristics of the product?

Common special casting methods include investment casting, gypsum casting, ceramic casting, lost foam casting, permanent mold casting, pressure casting, low pressure casting, differential pressure casting, vacuum suction casting, extrusion casting, centrifugal casting, continuous casting, semi-continuous casting, shell casting, graphite casting, electroslag casting and so on.

General characteristics

(1) Change the manufacturing process or material of the mold.

(2) Improve the filling and subsequent condensation conditions of liquid metal.

The above two aspects are the basic characteristics of special casting. For each special casting method, it may have only one feature or two features at the same time. For example, pressure casting, low pressure casting of metal mold or molten mold shell, gypsum differential pressure casting and centrifugal casting have two characteristics. However, ceramic precision casting and EPC only change the manufacturing process or material of the mold, and the filling process of molten metal is still completed under the action of gravity.

Advantages of special casting

(1) The size of the casting is accurate, the surface roughness is low, it is closer to the final size of the part, and it is easy to realize less cutting or no cutting.

(2) The internal quality of the casting is good and the mechanical properties are high, which can reduce the wall thickness of the casting.

(3) Reduce metal consumption and casting rejection rate.

(4) Simplify the casting process (except investment casting) to facilitate the mechanization and automation of the production process.

(5) Improve working conditions and increase labor productivity.
