Great achievements have been made in epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, immunology, immune prevention and comprehensive prevention and control of important parasitic diseases, platform construction for collection, collation, preservation and enjoyment of animal parasitic species resources, molecular biology, functional genomics and protein genomics of animal diseases, new veterinary drug research, new veterinary drug preparation and administration technology, drug evaluation, drug analysis and veterinary drug residue detection. For three consecutive years, it was awarded the title of national advanced collective for schistosomiasis control by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Water Resources. It was awarded as a civilized unit of Shanghai and China Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It has made positive contributions to promoting the scientific progress of parasitology and parasitology in China, controlling the harm of parasitic diseases in China, ensuring the health of people and livestock, promoting the development of animal husbandry and rural and agricultural economy, and increasing farmers' income.
On March 22nd, 2002, China Academy of Agricultural Sciences put forward a proposal to the Shanghai Municipal People's Government to build a national research center for animal medicine, which was highly valued by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and actively responded to our proposal and fully supported it. With Shanghai Institute of Livestock Parasitology as the main body, we will recruit senior talents in related fields at home and abroad, make full use of Shanghai's outstanding advantages in life science research, talents, economy and information, establish an animal medicine research center, and strive to build a national animal medicine science and technology innovation center, an animal medicine industry center and an international animal medicine science and technology exchange center.
The central project plans to build a total construction area of15860m2 with a total investment of 84,503,300 yuan. After more than three years of preparatory work, the center has made substantial progress: the land for project construction (near Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University) and construction funds have been secured, and construction is expected to start in early 2006. It was completed and put into use in 2007. The center consists of eight scientific research and innovation institutions and two management institutions. Among them, scientific research and innovation institutions include the National Laboratory of Animal Schistosomiasis Prevention, the Key Open Laboratory of Animal Parasitology of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Animal Biotechnology Laboratory, the Animal Infectious Disease Prevention Laboratory, the Animal Pharmacy Laboratory, the Animal Product Safety Laboratory, the Science and Technology Information Laboratory and the Research Basic Conditions Department. Management institutions include scientific research management office and comprehensive office.
The main direction and task of the center is to undertake the overall, basic, key and directional major scientific and technological tasks in national animal epidemic prevention, solve the major scientific and technological problems related to it, and promote and promote the scientific development and technological progress of national animal epidemic prevention theory and technology. Its key research fields are to carry out basic theoretical research, applied basic research and applied technology research on etiology, epidemiology, immunology, diagnosis, detection and comprehensive prevention and control technology, genetic engineering, protein project, animal pharmacy and bioinformatics. Focusing on the important zoonotic diseases in China and the major animal diseases that seriously endanger animal husbandry production, especially the important diseases prevalent in southern China, such as schistosomiasis japonica and other important tropical diseases, waterfowl diseases, pet diseases and so on. To provide advanced technology and products for effectively controlling the occurrence of animal diseases in China and preventing the introduction of exotic animal diseases, and to establish a theoretical system for the prevention and control of major animal diseases in China. At the same time, in view of the epidemic prevention needs of major animal diseases in China, we will develop and transform advanced and practical products and technologies, provide enterprises with high value-added products and technologies through turnkey projects, and promote the scientific and technological progress of China's animal medicine industry.

Strengthen the research and technology platform construction of epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, immunization, comprehensive prevention and control, molecular biology of parasitic pathogens, drug resistance mechanism, collection and preservation of livestock and poultry parasitic resources in China, and monitoring of exotic parasitic diseases in the new period, so as to provide new technologies and processes for the prevention and control of livestock and poultry parasitic diseases in China, the development of animal husbandry, human health, farmers' income increase and rural economic development.
