In 1993, I took over a small pen factory with more than 30 people from my father. On January 8, 1994, the family workshop was officially renamed Ningbo Beifa Sports and Tourism Products Manufacturing Co., Ltd. That year, Beifa's export sales reached more than 6 million US dollars. By 1996, this figure quickly increased to more than 26 million US dollars. This figure was also the total export volume of the four pen-making companies in Shanghai at that time: "Hero", "Fenghua", "Yongsheng" and "China Pencil Factory".
Since 1997, Beifa has applied for a new patent every three days on average.
In September 2002, TESCO of the United States, one of the world's top 500 companies and the world's largest stationery company, awarded Beifa a medal for technological innovation. There are more than 600 stationery suppliers around the world, and TESCO only issues one medal.
Since Beifa was first selected as a key high-tech enterprise in the National Torch Plan in 2001, it has been selected as a national high-tech enterprise, a key high-tech enterprise in the National Torch Plan, and a national innovative enterprise for many years; it has been responsible for national-level science and technology projects. 7 projects, 12 provincial and municipal science and technology projects, nearly 100 municipal new products; won 5 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards, 4 municipal science and technology progress awards; participated in the drafting of more than 30 industry standards.
It has now become the largest pen export production base in China, accounting for 16.7% of the national pen export market. It ranks first in the domestic industry with an annual production and sales of 1.5 billion pieces, and ranks second in business scale. More than three times, Qiu Zhiming led Beifa to the top of China's pen-making industry in 10 years, achieving what foreign counterparts could achieve at least 20 years ago.
He has long been committed to the development of China's pen-making industry and stationery industry. He holds a number of patents. The gel-ink pens and straight-liquid needle pens he developed have filled the domestic gaps; the technical indicators of nickel-nickel copper pen tips have reached Internationally advanced level, replacing imports. The company's production and sales have ranked first in the country for ten consecutive years, and ranked third in the global industry. It is Asia's largest writing instrument manufacturer, and is the franchisee, licensed retailer and exclusive supplier of stationery for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
