It has achieved a leap in the quality of thick coal seam mining technology, which is a major revolution in the underground mining technology of thick coal seam in the world and marks that China's coal mining technology has entered the ranks of advanced coal mining countries in the world. This technology won the first prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and was patented in China and Australia.
Using fully mechanized top-coal caving mining technology, 8-12m thick coal seam can be mined at one time, and the roof of goaf (mainly composed of coal) is allowed to collapse without using steel wire mesh. The design of roof support is modified, and a coal caving mechanism is added at the back of the support. When the coal caving mechanism is opened, the broken coal in the goaf will fall onto the second armored flexible conveyor. This process will continue until all the exploitable coal and waste rocks appear after the coal mining face is collected. Fully mechanized top-coal caving mining technology can mine thick coal seams in one production face at a time, and can effectively and economically utilize coal resources.
