05Cr 17Ni4Cu4Nb steel is a martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel. Copper and niobium are added to steel, which is a traditional stainless heat-resistant steel. The strength can be adjusted by changing the heat treatment process. Because of its low carbon content, its corrosion resistance and weldability are better than martensitic stainless steel, but close to austenitic stainless steel. The heat treatment process of 05Cr 17Ni4Cu4Nb steel is simple, and single lath martensite can be obtained after solution treatment, with hardness of 32~34HRC and good machinability. After aging at 460~480℃, the hardness of the steel can reach 40HRC, the hardness and strength are improved, and the comprehensive mechanical properties are improved, but it is difficult to carry out deep cold forming. 05Cr 17Ni4Cu4Nb steel can work in the temperature range of -29℃ to 343℃ while maintaining relatively good parameters. The ductility of 05Cr 17Ni4Cu4Nb material is relatively good, and its corrosion resistance is equivalent to that of 0Cr 18Ni9.

Preliminary heat treatment of 05Cr 17Ni4Cu4Nb steel

The hardness after forging is higher than 35HRC, so it is necessary to soften the 05Cr 17Ni4Cu4Nb steel before processing. There are three methods in production practice:

First, solution treatment: 1020~ 1060℃ heating, oil cooling, hardness 28~30HRC.

Ⅱ High temperature tempering: heating temperature 720~740℃, furnace cooling or air cooling, hardness 28 ~ 32 hours RC.

ⅲ annealing: heating at 820~840℃, cooling with the furnace to below 500℃, and hardness of 28~30HRC.

Solution treatment of 05Cr 17Ni4Cu4Nb steel

The solution temperature is 1020~ 1060℃, the microstructure is low carbon martensite, and the hardness is 32~34HRC.

Aging treatment of 05Cr 17Ni4Cu4Nb steel

The recommended aging temperature is 480℃, aging time is 4h and hardness is 40HRC.
