Suzhou University, formerly known as Soochow University, was founded in 1900, and is the first university in China to establish a modern university discipline system. It is the first university in China to establish a periodical, and its legal education (Anglo-American law) and postgraduate education are awarded in China. 1952 faculty adjustment, Suzhou University College of Arts and Sciences, Sunan College of Culture and Education, and Jiangnan University Department of Mathematics and Science merged to form Sunan Normal University, which was renamed Jiangsu Normal University in the same year.
As of April 2020, the school has four campuses, namely Tianci Village, Dushu Lake, Yangcheng Lake and Future, covering an area of 4,586 mu and a building area of10.59 million square meters. There are 30 colleges (departments); 13 before the discipline entered the ESI world1%; 553 1 faculty; Full-time undergraduate students are 276 15, graduate students 13 160, doctoral students 1859, and international students are 327 1.
The history of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (the headquarters of Jiangsu University) can be traced back to the Sanjiang Normal School founded by Liu Kunyi, Zhang Zhidong and Wei Guangtao in Nanjing in 1902. Since then, it has gone through Liangjiang Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University, National Fourth Sun Yat-sen University, Jiangsu University, National Central University, National Nanjing University and Nanjing University.
1960, in order to meet the needs of the development of agricultural machinery at that time, with the approval of the State Planning Commission, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agricultural Machinery, Nanjing Institute of Technology (now Southeast University) was established to teach and equip department of mechanical engineering agricultural machinery, automobiles and tractors, and enrollment began in the same year.
