Since 2003, Fushun University of Chemical Technology in Liaoning and Youshi University in China (Beijing) have conducted some research on oil sands development in Jilin and Inner Mongolia. According to the characteristics of local oil sands, the technology of hot water washing to separate oil sands was put forward, and a small-scale field test was carried out in 2005, which achieved good separation effect.
Laboratory test, field pilot test and field pilot test of thermochemical water washing separation were completed in Tumuji oil sands mine in Songliao Basin. A set of oil sands oil plant with an annual output of 10× 104t has been built. In order to make comprehensive utilization and realize one-stop operation, the process adopts continuous feeding and water washing separation, and the separated heavy oil is simply refined to produce light oil for sale, and waste residue is used as raw material for brick burning to reduce environmental pollution.
Since 2003, PetroChina has invested a lot of manpower and material resources to carry out a lot of scientific research. According to the characteristics of oil sands in Jilin, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Qinghai and Sichuan, different separation methods are put forward for different oil sands properties, and the dry distillation process and water washing process technology for oil sands mining are formed. A 200t/d vertical retort, a horizontal retort and a 500t/d water washing furnace were designed respectively. In 2006, the pilot test of oil sand washing technology was carried out in Hongshanzui Hongsha6 well area in Junggar Basin, and the feasibility demonstration of the pilot oil sand plant in Hongshanzui Hongsha6 well area 1× 104t was completed. At present, preparations are being made for the construction of the pilot plant, which is scheduled to be put into production in 2007.
The above experimental research proves that the separation method of oil sands in China is feasible in the laboratory, and some laboratory technologies have started on-site pilot tests and gradually transformed into production capacity.

After repeated argumentation by 10 experts and researchers, an effective separation method-dry distillation method suitable for the characteristics of oil sands in northwest China was explored. Two new technologies of oil sand separation, vertical retort and horizontal rotary retort, were put forward, and the process design and manufacture of these two retorts were completed in May 2005.
The vertical furnace is 4m high, and the designed daily treatment capacity of oil sands is 20t, with output of1t; Daily oil quantity; The horizontal furnace body is 8m in length and 1m in diameter. The design daily processing capacity of oil sands is 20t, and the daily oil production is1t. The dry distillation temperature is 500℃.
At present, the design scheme of the second generation high-efficiency horizontal rotary retort has been initially produced. Among them, the invention patent and utility model patent of horizontal furnace dry distillation have been applied by the State Patent Office and are in the publicity period.
Since August 2005, two retort furnaces have been delivered to the site respectively. After intense installation and debugging on site, the shaft furnace was ignited in September of 17, and the first barrel of oil sand dry distillation oil was successfully produced. On September 24th, the horizontal furnace was ignited, and the first barrel of dry distillation oil was successfully produced. Dry distillation tests were carried out on different grades of oil sands. The vertical furnace can handle 12t oil sands every day, with a daily oil production of 0.6t, and the horizontal furnace can handle 24t oil sands every day, with a daily oil production of 1t, and the maximum natural gas output reaches 360m3/d. The horizontal furnace has also been tested in environmental protection projects such as oilfield sludge, and Karamay Refinery has achieved good results in producing 1t oil with 3.5t oil sludge.

Tumuji Oil Sands Mine in Inner Mongolia is located in Jalaid Banner, Inner Mongolia. The registered exploration right of oil sands mine is 12.48km2, and the current mining right is1.94km2.. Oil sands have good properties and high oil content, with an average oil content of about 10%, some as high as 14%, and the surface soil is 65438+. Oil sands mine is privately owned, and "Inner Mongolia Jalaid Banner Hengyuan Mining Comprehensive Development Co., Ltd." has been established for development.
Since 2004, Zhaqi Hengyuan Mining Co., Ltd. and Fushun Institute of Petrochemical Technology have jointly carried out research on oil sand mining technology. So far, a series of experiments have been completed, including indoor experiments, field experiments and field experiments, and thermochemical water washing has been used for separation. A set of equipment with an annual output of 10× 104t crude oil has been built. In order to comprehensively utilize and realize one-stop operation, the process adopts continuous feeding and water washing separation, and the separated heavy oil is simply refined to produce light oil for product sales, and waste residue is used as raw material for brick burning, thus reducing environmental pollution. Zhaqi Hengyuan Mining Company has signed cooperation agreements with three companies at home and abroad. It is designed that each cooperative company can produce 30× 104t crude oil annually, and its own company can produce 10× 104t crude oil annually. The overall plan is to achieve an annual oil production capacity of 100× 104t.
