Second, a brief introduction to Northwest University
Northwest University was founded in 1902 Shaanxi University Hall and Shi Jing University Hall. 19 12 is called Northwest University. 1923 changed to National Northwest University. 1937, the National Peking University, Beiping Normal University, Beiyang Institute of Technology and Beiping Research Institute, which moved westward to Shaanxi, formed the National xi 'an Temporary University. 1938 was renamed as National Northwest United University, and 1939 was renamed as National Northwest University. After the founding of New China, it is a comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education. 1950 changed its name to Northwest University. 1958 transferred to the director of Shaanxi province. 1978 was identified as a national key university. Now it is the first batch of national "world-class discipline construction universities", national "2 1 1 project" construction universities, the Ministry of Education and Shaanxi Province.
In the long-term development process, Northwest University has formed the school-running philosophy of "carrying forward the national spirit, integrating world thoughts and shouldering the heavy responsibility of building the northwest", gathered many famous teachers, produced a number of high-level academic achievements, trained a large number of outstanding talents who can only serve the world, and enjoyed a good academic reputation and social prestige. Known as "the mother of petroleum talents in China", "the cradle of economists" and "the cradle of writers".
The school has three campuses: Taibai Campus, Taoyuan Campus and Chang 'an Campus, covering a total area of more than 2,360 mu. There are 23 colleges (departments) and graduate schools with 86 undergraduate majors. At present, the school has 24 first-level disciplines authorized by doctor's degree, 37 first-level disciplines authorized by master's degree, and 14 professional degree authorization categories. At present, there are 1 national key disciplines (covering 5 two disciplines), 4 two disciplines national key disciplines and 1 national key disciplines (training), and 22 post-doctoral research stations. The school has 1 national key laboratory, 1 national engineering technology research center, 3 national international scientific and technological cooperation bases, 2 academic innovation and intelligence introduction program bases in colleges and universities (referred to as "1/plan"),1national innovative talent training demonstration base and 3 national and local joint engineering research centers. 1 province * * * has established national key laboratory cultivation bases, seven national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 national virtual simulation experimental teaching center, seven national talent training bases, as well as national college students' cultural quality education base, 39 provincial and ministerial scientific research bases, and 17 provincial and ministerial humanities and social science research bases. There are 2,740 faculty members, including 3 academicians of China Academy of Sciences, double-hired academicians (professors) 10, history academicians of International Academy of Sciences 1 person, 20 experts of * Award Scheme, 2 winners of National * Project 12, 9 winners of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 9 winners of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and 2,540 full-time students.
The school has successively won the first and second prizes of the National Natural Science Award, the second prize of the National Technological Invention Award, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize of the "*" Achievement Award, the China Patent Gold Award and other major scientific and technological awards.
The school attaches great importance to foreign scientific and cultural exchanges, and has established friendly and cooperative relations with more than 100 universities and scientific research institutions in more than 20 countries and regions such as the United States, Britain, France, Germany and Japan. The Encyclopedia Britannica once listed Northwest University as one of the world famous universities.
