Basic characteristics of patent

1. exclusiveness, no unit or individual may exploit its patent without the permission of the patentee, that is, it may not manufacture, use, promise to sell, sell or import its patented products for production and business purposes, or use its patented methods and use, promise to sell, sell or import products directly obtained according to the patented methods.

2. Regionality, the patent right granted by a country according to its own patent law is only protected by law within its own scope, and is not protected by law in other countries. If the applicant thinks that his invention has international market prospect, he should apply for a patent in other countries and regions with good market prospect besides applying for a patent in China.

3. Timeliness, the patentee's exclusive right to his invention and creation is only valid within the time stipulated by law. When the patent right expires or the patent right is lost halfway, the patentee no longer enjoys the exclusive right to his invention and creation, and his invention and creation become social public wealth, which can be used by any unit or individual free of charge.
