Later, she went all the way to the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and became a doctor and postdoctoral fellow.
During her study in Chinese Academy of Sciences, she devoted herself to the study of Beidou satellite navigation and became an expert in the study of Beidou spatio-temporal information. In 2009, Sun Xiyan returned to his alma mater to teach. She attaches importance to the cultivation of students' ideological and moral quality, and educates students to have feelings of home and country and be responsible for their own mission.
She actively practices the innovative talent training mode of science and education cooperation and integration of production and education, leads students to participate in scientific research, innovation and entrepreneurship, academic competitions, and goes deep into enterprise learning practice, so that many students enter world-class universities or leading enterprises in the industry for further study and employment.
She regards scientific research as a hobby and serves the country with science and technology as her life goal. She worked in the laboratory 10 hours every day for 20 years. She has led three scientific and technological platforms at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including the National Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Satellite Navigation and Location Services, the Beidou Location Service and the Collaborative Innovation Center for Border and Coastal Defence Security Applications, and the Guangxi Location Awareness and Location Service Technology Engineering Laboratory.
