What's the difference between a design patent and a utility model patent?

Appearance design refers to a new design that is aesthetically pleasing and suitable for industrial application in the shape, pattern or combination of products and the combination of color, shape and pattern.

Patent for utility model: refers to a new technical scheme suitable for practical use for the shape, structure or combination of products.

As can be seen from their definitions, the protection scope of design patent and utility model patent is different. The former can be structure, and the latter can only be appearance. The application documents of the other two companies are also different.
