How long will it take for the graphene industry to explode?

Currently, quasi-market graphene products are appearing in batches. The graphene lubricating oil produced by a company in Wuxi can save 6-8% of fuel. It was put into the market this year and its revenue has exceeded one million yuan. The graphene separation membrane produced by a company in Changzhou is used for environmental protection. It will be mass-produced in July and is expected to benefit this year. 7 million-8 million yuan. There are about 100 domestic companies that have been incubated for 2-3 years, and their products currently meet or partially meet the conditions for being put on the market. At the just-concluded China International Graphene Innovation Conference, more than 70 companies displayed their products.

The graphene flagship project led by 23 EU countries with an investment of more than 1 billion euros, the first phase is from October 2013 to March 2016, and the task is scientific research; the second phase is from April 2016 Initially, the mission is to promote the application of graphene, and the annual funding is equivalent to the total of the first phase.

Based on the analysis of various phenomena, the graphene industry has entered a growth stage, but has not yet formed a clear industrial pattern.

How far is the "explosion point"?

Experts such as Sun Xueliang, academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, academician of the Royal Academy of Sciences, chief scientist of nanotechnology and energy technology, and Wei Zhikai of Chengdu Organic Chemistry Co., Ltd. of the Chinese Academy of Sciences believe 2-3 years or longer; Andre Heim and Jia Baoping, deputy director of Jiangnan Graphene Research Institute, believe that it will probably take 1-2 years, or even shorter. There is a window period before the "explosion point". If we fail to grasp it, as capital pours in, "latecomers" will become "laggards". An expert who asked not to be named said that the carbon fiber industry can serve as a lesson for others. my country missed its window period in the 1970s and 1980s, and its industrial level is now 30-40 years behind foreign countries. It needs to import large quantities of products at high prices every year.

(2) Many provinces across the country are vigorously developing the graphene industry

Jiangsu: In October 2011, Changzhou established the Jiangnan Graphene Research Institute; in 2013, Wuxi issued the 2013-2020 In 2016, the graphene industry development plan was outlined, and the Wuxi Graphene Industry Development Demonstration Zone was established; in the same year, the first domestic graphene film production line was put into operation in Changzhou. In the past five years, 69 companies have gathered in Changzhou and more than 40 companies have gathered in Wuxi.

Shandong: Qingdao International Graphene Innovation Center was established in Qingdao High-tech Zone in 2014, gathering nearly 30 companies in 5 years.

Guangdong: In March 2014, Guangdong Hongna’s ton-level graphene production line was put into operation in Dongguan; the number of graphene patent applications in Shenzhen is similar to that of the United States and Israel, and more than 30 companies have gathered in five years.

The graphene industry pattern has been formed, with Qingdao in the north, Changzhou and Wuxi in Jiangsu Province in the east, and Shenzhen and Dongguan in Guangdong Province in the south. There is no graphene industrial base with obvious advantages in the central and western regions.

The Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other ministries and commissions are stepping up the formulation of the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" related to the field of new materials, and may deploy the graphene industry nationwide.
