What exactly does an ic layout engineer do?

IC layout should be considered from two aspects: digital or analog

I will talk about it from the aspect of analog layout

As a junior ic layout engineer, You need to draw the layout according to the designer's requirements and pass all drc, lvs, and erc checks. If post simulation is involved, you need to extract the parasitic parameters of the layout and then feed it back to the designer for post-simulation.

The senior's work is not limited to the layout of the module, but also includes the floorplan of the top as well as routing, bonding, esd, and latchup== issues. If the command file is involved, you also need to learn the relevant syntax.

The work content can only be an overview. If you want to know more, you need to learn relevant knowledge.
