Why take the number 24? The ancients believed that the number of heaven and earth, five to one in twenty days and thirty to six in places, was twenty-four. This number should be twenty-four solar terms in the weather and twenty-four mountains in the underground. The arrangement of the 24 directions is: Prince Gui of Kangua in the north, Ugly Yin of Gua in the northeast, Jiamao B of Zhengua in the east, Chan Si of Gua in the southeast, Bingwu of Gua in the south, Kun Shen in the southwest, Geng Youxin of Gua in the west and Gan Hai in the northwest. The purpose of twenty-four is to determine the direction of the mountain and distinguish the direction of the water. When the intraday index points to a solar term, anger is on the corresponding side. The direction pointed by the positive needle is the meridian of the magnetic pole. It reflects the orientation of the earth, so it is also called territory.
