1, innovation of breeding methods and materials

New varieties were bred by combining conventional breeding techniques such as multi-parent hybridization and backcross with modern breeding techniques, and more than 200 breeding materials with disease resistance, stress resistance, disease resistance identification technology, transgenic technology and high-quality gene polymerization were screened and created. The bred Dongnong series early-maturing new varieties are all varieties with Tm-2 nv gene introduced from the United States, which contains yellowing gene as a marker, is closely linked with Tm-2, has high combining ability and is resistant to TMV, and can identify false hybrids at seedling stage. It is a major feature and innovation of tomato breeding in China to transfer Tm-2 nv gene into excellent varieties in China through multi-parent hybridization and backcross, and to breed dwarf pink T and dwarf yellow T parents. In the research of tomato male sterile line, a new type of male sterile line combining positional sterility and functional sterility was successfully bred, which is the first case in the world. In addition, excellent breeding materials with long shelf life (up to 90 ~ 150 days) are created by using late-maturing mutant genes rin and nor, which will replace the excellent varieties of Israeli, Dutch, French and other countries and meet the challenge of China's entry into WTO.

2. The new tomato varieties Dongnong 702 and 704 are breakthroughs in early-maturing breeding in China.

Dongnong 702 is the first tomato hybrid in China. It is bred by crossing an early-maturing variety Zaofen No.2 with Huang Ai T, and has the advantages of early maturity, high yield and disease resistance. Dongnong 702 ranked first in the early maturity group of the second round of tomato regional test in China and was approved as a national variety by the whole country. The breeding of this variety created the history of greenhouse tomato cultivation in Heilongjiang Province and Northeast China, changed the planting structure of greenhouse crops in northern China, broke the monopoly of cucumber cultivation in protected areas, and won the second prize of scientific and technological progress in Heilongjiang Province. The breeding of TMV-resistant parent Huang Ai and the breeding of red fruit series hybrids won the third prize of national scientific and technological progress.

Dongnong 704 is a new tomato variety with early maturity, high quality, disease resistance and high yield, which was bred by multi-parent hybridization, backcross and other dominant breeding methods. It integrates multiple genes, and both parents have seedling marker traits, so it can identify false hybrids at seedling stage, which solves the worldwide problems of low hybrid purity, low identification accuracy and high cost, and can be applied to production in both positive and negative crosses. In the third round of national tomato regional test, this variety ranked first in the early maturity group after comprehensive evaluation of five indexes and was designated as a national variety. Its breeding is a breakthrough in early-maturing tomato breeding in China, which has promoted the development of tomato cultivation in northern China and protected areas in the Yangtze River basin and won the first prize of scientific and technological progress in Heilongjiang Province. 3.
