What is the application procedure for French trademarks?
The process of applying for a French trademark: the applicant submits the trademark application documents to the French Industrial Property Office, which will examine whether the trademark is registrable, whether it is the same as or similar to the previously registered trademark, and whether it violates the prohibition clause of the Trademark Law. For a trademark that fails to pass the substantive examination, the trademark examiner will notify the applicant in writing and inform him of the reasons for rejection. The trademark applicant may file an application for reexamination within a time limit from the date of receiving the notice of rejection, otherwise, the trademark application shall be deemed to be abandoned, and the application date and application number shall not be retained. The applicant can apply for an extension on the condition of paying the extension fee. Trademark examiners may conditionally accept certain applications for trademark registration and may require the applicant to give up the right to use certain words or graphics in the trademark.
