Aagje turboshaft engine is a product developed in 1970s. It has adopted many new designs, new materials and new technologies. In order to master these new technologies step by step, the development of WZ8 series engines by China Southern Power Machinery Company is divided into two stages: the first stage adopts French materials. Firstly, the units, exhaust sections, connectors and accessories made in France produced by TM company are assembled into a complete machine, which is tested on a test bench that has passed the French inspection before leaving the factory. Then three units, M0 1 (accessory drive unit), M04 (free turbine unit) and M05 (reducer unit) produced by China Southern Power Machinery Company, as well as the exhaust section, connectors and some accessories, were assembled with M02 (axial compressor unit) and M03 (gas generator unit) produced by TM Company and accessories made in France, and delivered after debugging. Finally, the five units, exhaust section, connectors and some accessories are all made of French materials, assembled with other accessories made in France into a complete machine, and delivered after a long-term trial operation of 150 hours. The second stage is the localization stage. Except for a few parts, all raw materials, blanks, finished products and accessories are produced in China. In the process of localization, the newly developed 24 kinds of metallic materials, 64 kinds of nonmetallic materials and 60 kinds of forged billets have passed the evaluation and appraisal by the state or other levels, and most localized parts and accessories have passed the appraisal or design finalization, and the localization rate of the whole machine has reached 965,438 0%.
Domestic WZ8A engine has been subjected to 2000 typical flight cycles (1000 hours) and 7000 low cycle fatigue tests according to the evaluation outline proposed by France. After the first flight 100 hours, two domestic engines passed the appraisal sponsored by the Army Aviation Bureau of the PLA General Staff and the Aerospace Industry Department in June 1992+0 1 and were put into small batch production.
On the basis of the successful development of domestic WZ8A engine, China Southern Power Machinery Co., Ltd. developed two types of turboshaft engines, WZ8E and WZ8D, according to the complete set of data provided by TM company and the principle of localization, which passed the long-term trial run of 1994 in July and September respectively, and carried out related appraisal tests on the testing machine. 1September, 1994, the two engines passed the stage appraisal sponsored by aviation industry corporation of china, with the participation of the Navy and the General Aviation Administration. They were installed and made their first flight at the end of 1994. It is mostly used for straight 9 series helicopters, and most military helicopters in China are equipped with this type of engine.
