Why should we actively promote the mechanization of sweet potato production?

Mechanization is the primary factor in large-area standardized cultivation. Mechanized production can not only save a lot of man-hours and improve labor efficiency, but also increase output and reduce losses. At present, mechanization of sweet potato production is relatively common in developed countries. For example, in Japan, small and precise cultivation machinery is commonly used. The scope of operations includes major labor links such as cutting seedlings, ridging, covering, planting, removing vines, and digging potatoes. Jiangsu Xuzhou Sweet Potato Research Center attaches great importance to the development of sweet potato cultivation mechanization. Currently, the successful applications include ridging machines matched with large, medium and small tractors, watering and fertilizing membrane breakers for planting, vine cutters and harvesters matched with small four-wheel tractors. Among them, the utility model patented product "Ring-knife Sweet Potato Harvester" has a working efficiency of 3 to 4 acres per hour when used with a small four-wheel tractor. The working efficiency is equivalent to 50 to 60 people manually harvesting, and it is rotten. The rate and leakage yield were significantly reduced. Mechanization is particularly important for large-scale commercial potato production.
