Tesla worked with Edison, the inventor of the alternator, and was a rare experimental generalist at the beginning of the19th century. He has patented achievements in electromechanical engineering, radio engineering, fluid engineering, cryogenic engineering, geophysics, vacuum technology, aircraft technology and so on.
Tesla's patents in various countries, including all his unapproved patents and various inventions with patent value, add up to more than 700. In recognition of his "Tesla coil" and his many contributions to the AC system, the International Institute of Electrotechnics decided to use his name as the unit of magnetic induction intensity in the international system of units, with T as the symbol.
