Huawei's patent right in the United States

Qualcomm began to supply chips to Huawei.

With the official launch of HarmonyOS system, the blockade of our software system by the United States has completely failed. Now the only problem seems to be hardware and technical equipment such as semiconductor chips.

However, who would have thought that it was reported that Qualcomm had resumed supplying chips to Huawei.

Sure enough, among Huawei's recently released Mate Pad series products, there is a Mate Pad Pro with the size of 10.8 inch, and its core processor is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 870, but this Snapdragon 870 chip is not 5G, but a 4G version designed by Qualcomm.

Although it is only a 4G chip, for Huawei, which has no core available, this is a timely help. Even if Huawei's smartphone is downgraded from 5G to 4G, it still maintains the continuity of the brand. At least Huawei has retained the hope of re-emergence, and only domestic chips have broken through the blockade.

It is worth noting that since the chip ban, many companies have resumed their supply to Huawei, but they are all American companies. As for TSMC and ASML, non-American enterprises that stand out in special fields, despite repeated appeals, their exports are still strictly restricted.

TSMC was founded by the United States.

Combined with the layout of Laomei in the local chip industry in the past two years, it is not difficult to find that TSMC has been firmly established.

First, TSMC and ASML are restricted from exporting to the China market, so they can only rely on the western and European markets.

Secondly, TSMC is invited to set up a factory in the United States with a subsidy of US$ 50 billion and the preemptive right of EUV mask aligner, so as to promote the improvement of its local chip manufacturing level and make up for the shortcomings.

Finally, the core technology of TSMC will be transferred, and then the global high-precision chip supply chain will be in our own hands.

Although TSMC knows how expensive it is to build a factory in the United States, it finally wants to exchange the freedom of shipment because of the indispensable American technology in the industrial chain. It agreed to this request and decided to invest 27 billion US dollars to build six 5nm wafer factories and 1 3nm wafer factories.

According to foreign media reports, TSMC's factory in Arizona has started construction, which means that everything has been settled and the United States has achieved its goal. On the other hand, TSMC did not wait for the supply license it wanted.

It's time to recognize the reality.

In this "science and technology game" between China and the United States, TSMC played the role of "villain" after listening to the words of Laomei, but in the end, apart from the "hatred" of mainland enterprises, perhaps only the empty promises of Laomei were made. However, the level of chip manufacturing in the United States will be greatly improved with the arrival of TSMC, and TSMC will lose its uniqueness in the field of foundry.

This may be the real purpose of the United States, on the one hand, to curb the rise of China's high technology, on the other hand, to make up for its own shortcomings, to get rid of dependence on TSMC's manufacturing technology, and even to achieve control over TSMC.

More importantly, during the chip ban, all American companies suffered losses to varying degrees. However, American companies such as Qualcomm can continue to make money in the semiconductor consumer market in China through partial supply licenses.

I have to say that TSMC should really recognize the reality. It is tantamount to "finding fault with the tiger's skin" to tie up with the old beauty that harms others and benefits others. What good results can you get in the end? It is better to rely on the giants of our own country to achieve "de-beautification" and get rid of the dependence on beauty completely.
