Second, the breakthrough and technical characteristics of domestic capsule endoscopy

Since 200 1, Chongqing Jinshan Science and Technology Group has independently developed capsule endoscope, which was included in the key international cooperation project of the Ministry of Science and Technology in June 2002, and was also included in the national "863 Plan" advanced manufacturing and automation field MEMS major special project for support. After more than three years of efforts, Chongqing Jinshan Science and Technology Group finally completed the research and development of key technologies of capsule endoscope in early 2004, and took out a prototype. After a series of animal experiments, the first generation of products was finalized in June 2004.

The capsule endoscope of Chongqing Jinshan Science and Technology Group was named "OMOM" and was approved for clinical application by SFDA of China in March 2004. It is the first capsule endoscope in China and the second capsule endoscope in the world.

OMOM capsule endoscope is a typical high-tech product of MEMS, which integrates image processing, information communication, photoelectric engineering, biomedicine and other multidisciplinary technologies. It consists of intelligent capsule, image recorder and image workstation (computer and image analysis software). It can help doctors to diagnose patients with digestive tract diseases and is widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive system diseases.

The working principle of OMOM capsule endoscope is: after the patient swallows the smart capsule with water like taking medicine, it runs along the direction of stomach → duodenum → jejunum and ileum → colon → rectum with the movement rhythm of gastrointestinal muscles, and at the same time, it constantly takes pictures of the passing cavity, and transmits the images to an image recorder carried outside the patient as digital signals for storage and recording. The working time is 6-8 hours, and the smart capsule will be excreted with feces after swallowing for 8-72 hours. Doctors can understand the whole digestive tract of patients by analyzing the images recorded by the image recorder through the image workstation, so as to make a diagnosis of the disease.

The operation of OMOM capsule endoscope is very simple, and there are only three processes in the whole examination: swallowing capsule, recording and playback observation. Doctors only need to play back the pictures taken during observation to make an accurate judgment on the condition. In the early research and development, OMOM capsule endoscope adopted a completely different design scheme and technology from foreign patents, and verified the feasibility of the technology, breaking through some key technologies, including the design of low-power image acquisition and processing system, the design of close-range wide-angle aspheric lens, the design of duplex multi-channel wireless transmission, and the consistency and reliability of packaging technology and structural strength.

The main innovation of OMOM capsule endoscope lies in two aspects: one is the controllable wireless transceiver mode. Foreign products only have emission function, while the image recorder only passively receives, which can not realize the control of capsules in vitro; The intelligent capsule of OMOM capsule endoscope communicates with the image recorder through wireless duplex multi-channels, and has the functions of receiving and controlling. Second, the imported capsule endoscope can only observe the transmitted images at the workstation after shooting. Domestic OMOM capsule endoscope realizes real-time true color image monitoring, which is convenient for doctors to control the working state of smart capsules during the detection process. At the same time, establishing an open port is beneficial to the in vitro control of capsules in the future.
