The Key Laboratory of Food Biotechnology of Sichuan University was approved by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education in 2006, mainly relying on xihua university Institute of Bioengineering. The laboratory takes natural active substances and food safety detection as its main research direction, which has formed its characteristics and advantages. At the same time, it has carried out the research and development of food enzyme engineering and established a relatively perfect research platform for food biotechnology.
The laboratory consists of molecular biology laboratory, separation and purification laboratory, instrumental analysis laboratory and bioengineering laboratory. By the end of 20 14, it has automatic fermentation tank, freeze-drying equipment, supercritical extraction equipment, spray-drying equipment, membrane separation equipment, gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography and amino acid analyzer, high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, medium and high pressure protein separation and purification system, medium and high pressure natural product separation and purification system, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, high performance capillary electrophoresis instrument, chemical unit operation experimental equipment, PCR instrument and nucleic acid protein detector.

1, deep processing of agricultural products
1984 the college of bioengineering started the undergraduate major of food science and engineering, and in 2003 it was renamed the department of food engineering. He is an existing professional teacher 1 1 person, with 5 senior titles, a provincial key laboratory of food biotechnology and a provincial key discipline of food science and engineering. He has the right to award a master's degree in food science and engineering and is actively applying for a master's degree in agricultural product storage and processing. At present, there are many experts and scholars in the Department of Food Engineering who have been engaged in the research field of deep processing of agricultural products for a long time. Successfully completed many scientific research and school-enterprise cooperation projects entrusted by the state, provincial and ministerial level and enterprises. It has strong R&D ability and complete experimental conditions, and can engage in scientific research and technical guidance on key technologies of agricultural products deep processing and agricultural products processing.
2. Food quality and safety
The College of Bioengineering has a bachelor's degree in food quality and safety. This major has many excellent teachers who have been engaged in food quality and safety teaching and research for a long time, and has published four teaching materials on food quality and safety in colleges and universities, and won two provincial-level achievement appraisal projects and Chengdu Achievement Award 1. The College has established a long-term cooperative relationship with Sichuan Quality Inspection System, and undertaken a number of scientific research and foreign service projects entrusted by enterprises. The college can engage in scientific research in the field of food quality and safety, key technical guidance, analysis and detection of harmful and toxic substances in food, construction of food quality and safety guarantee system, and technical services for internal and external evaluation of food QS certification.
3. Research and development of natural drugs and pharmaceutical intermediates.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering of the School of Bioengineering has 8 professional teachers, 2 with senior titles, all with doctorates, 1 provincial specialty and 4 professional laboratories, and the total value of experimental equipment is nearly 5 million yuan. Most teachers in this department have been engaged in the research and development of natural medicines for a long time, and have undertaken more than 30 scientific research projects entrusted by provincial and ministerial departments and enterprises. The college can provide scientific research and technical support for the extraction and purification of effective components of traditional Chinese medicine, the development of natural medicines, the study of new dosage forms of traditional Chinese medicine, the modification and synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates, and the study of quality standards of traditional Chinese medicine.
4. Research and development of health food, fruit wine and biological products.
There are 7 professional teachers, 2 teachers with senior titles and 4 professional laboratories in the department of bioengineering, with a total value of nearly 6 million yuan. Teachers in this department have been engaged in the research and development of health food, liquor and biological products for a long time, and have undertaken more than 20 scientific research projects entrusted by provincial and ministerial enterprises. The college can provide research and development and technical support for health food, nutrition, fruit wine and biological products.
