Folk customs of the Bai people

The Bai ethnic group is distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and other places, with a population of 1.59 million. Good at farming. Has its own language.

The Bai costumes are very beautiful. Because they are the "Bai" tribe, the clothes are white. There are a few small pink flowers embroidered on the white clothes, which look particularly beautiful. The headdress is also very distinctive, with a crown on the head. The title is wind, flower, snow, and moon. There is a tassel on the left side of the crown, which represents "snow". Its length represents the size (age) of a person. The Bai people call women "Golden Flower" and men "Apeng Ge" (excluding children).

The Bai people use "three courses of tea" to treat guests to represent their respect and enthusiasm for the guests. Three courses of tea are the Bai people's hospitality etiquette. Bai people often entertain their relatives and friends with "three courses of tea". The first tea is made from green tea roasted in earthen pots and has a bitter taste; the second tea is made from milk tea made from brown sugar and milk and has a sweet taste; the third tea is made from honey boiled in water and has a sweet taste. . Because the first thing you drink is bitter tea, after drinking two or three teas, you will feel a comfortable feeling of mixed bitterness and sweetness in your mouth, so there is a saying that "'three teas' have one bitter, two sweet, and three aftertaste."

Once, my parents and I went to Dali, Yunnan, and the tour guide took us to a teahouse to taste tea. When I arrived at the hall, I saw two Bai aunties making tea. One Bai auntie saw us and asked us to sit down and wait for the tea. After a while, the tea was brewed, and they invited us to taste the first tea. I thought it was delicious, so I took a cup and drank it. "It's so bitter!" I shouted, and a Bai aunt saw it. I yelled and said: "These three teas are bitter, two are sweet and three are bitter." After hearing this, I said to my father: "Dad, let's go. These three teas are very bitter and I can't drink them." Dad laughed. He said: "Silly boy, these three teas can replenish the blood." When I heard this, I was surprised: bitter tea can also replenish the blood, which is great. I asked my aunt to pour all three teas for me and drank it down. My father asked me: "How do you feel?" "Great!" I exclaimed happily. I tasted this "Three Courses of Tea" over and over again. It feels so good!

The custom of the Bai people is "three courses of tea". If you have time, go there and try it.
