Anti-equipment weapons rose in World War I and reached a new height in World War II. It was once ignored after World War II. With the development of armored weapons, it has been paid attention to again, and the classic model M82A 1 has appeared. There have been some changes in anti-equipment weapons, and the caliber is getting bigger and bigger, and many 20 mm caliber models have appeared, such as Serbian SARAC 99.
SARAC 99 appeared in Serbia 202 1 Defense Exhibition. Developed by national defense equipment company, its technical source may be Serbia's 20 mm anti-aircraft gun. SARAC 99 is a very heavy weapon. After installing optical sights and other accessories, its total combat weight may be close to 65 kg.
It is impossible to carry and fight alone. It requires a three-person anti-equipment team, and the rifle itself needs to be mounted on a tripod to operate. The gun adopts the principle of air conduction, but it should only have semi-automatic shooting mode. It fires a powerful 20×110mm Spanish ammunition. This kind of ammunition was originally used in anti-aircraft guns and aviation guns, and there are many kinds of ammunition to choose from, such as armor-piercing bullets, trailing armor-piercing bullets, grenades and so on. The sniper rifle is supplied by 5 or 7 magazines installed at the top, and the actual firing rate is 3-.
The barrel length is 1 150 mm, the initial velocity of ammunition is 840 m/s, and the effective range is1600 m. Its armor-piercing projectile can easily penetrate the homogeneous armor plate with a thickness of 25 mm at a distance of 200 m, which is powerful enough. But the trajectory of the gun may be more curved than that of the anti-aircraft gun using the same ammunition, because its initial velocity is slightly lower.
After installing muffler and other equipment, the total length of the gun is 1.85 m. It seems that the silencer is also an efficient brake/flame arrester and the main force to reduce the recoil of shooting. It is said that it has obtained a patent and kept its technology secret. The tripod is installed in the middle of the barrel, so the center of gravity should be considered in the design. As you can see from the photo, its spring structure should also reduce the impact on the shooter.
The shooter gets the pistol grip, and the butt of the pistol is equipped with a heat insulation pad, which has a certain buffering ability.
The top is occupied by a magazine, so the sight has to be installed on the left side of the gun body, which means left-handed people can't use it.
According to the idea, SARAC 99 is only used by special forces. It needs a team of at least two people. Consider carrying guns, spare parts, ammunition and self-defense weapons, and it is best for a three-person team to participate in the operation.
However, SARAC 99 did not cause much response at the weapons exhibition. This kind of equipment is big and heavy, so soldiers might as well bring two small drones or portable rockets.
