How many patents should be recognized at a high level?

There are two different opinions on the requirements of the number of patents in the identification of high-tech enterprises.

The first view is that only 1 invention patents or 5 utility model patents can meet the requirements. The basis of this statement is that in the advanced audit system, the scores of intellectual property rights are composed of categories, quantity, advancement, correlation with main products, acquisition methods and so on. Among them, the quantitative standard in the number of intellectual property rights is 1 invention patent or 5 utility model patents, and full marks (8 points) can be obtained in the number of intellectual property rights.

Another view is that 15- 18 patents are needed to apply for high-tech enterprises. Specifically, an enterprise established for more than three years needs to have 15- 18 patents, and the number of patents owned by an enterprise established for less than three years should be the number of years in the natural year of the enterprise's establishment *5. That is to say, to declare a high-tech enterprise two years after its establishment, it needs at least 10 patents, and it needs at least 5 patents when it is established 1 year.

To sum up, there are different opinions about the number of patents recognized by high-tech enterprises. It is suggested that enterprises should carefully read the relevant policy documents and evaluation standards when applying for the recognition of high-tech enterprises, and understand the specific patent quantity requirements to ensure the smooth application.
