The belt was invented by Swiss engineer George de Maesta (1907-1990). When he came back from hunting, he found grass stuck to his clothes. After observing with a microscope, he found that the fruit of Pennisetum had a hook structure and could be attached to the fabric, so he thought of fixing the wool surface with hooks.
