Brothers, sisters, younger brothers and sisters, hello everyone, I am classmate Wang.
After our country reformed, it probably went through several stages. The first stage is the reckless entrepreneurial stage just after the reform. According to a former richest man, it is better to be bold than Tsinghua University and Peking University. As long as you dare to do it, you can basically make some money. The famous representative among them is Uncle Mou Zhongmou, who once exchanged 500 truckloads of cans for three Soviet aircraft. His famous remark is that a cave can be opened on the side of the Himalayas, and the moist air from the Indian Ocean can pass through the Himalayas and enter the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, thus turning barren beaches into grasslands. One of the representative figures of his time, very interesting.
After that, it was probably around the 1990s, until the period before the explosion of the Internet in 2000. College graduates are very popular because at that time, China's social economy had gradually returned to the right track from the rough stage after the reform. At this time, more smart and knowledgeable people were needed to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises. Therefore, this led to the fact that college diplomas were really, really popular during that period. We can understand this academic advantage as an information gap. I know the knowledge, but you don't, so I have an advantage over you.
After 2000, China’s Internet exploded. At this time, the most opportunities actually came from information gaps. Many famous companies were established during that period, such as: Sina Weibo, Ctrip, and Taobao. These companies directly copied some business models from the United States or other countries to China. Ahem, to put it more bluntly, that is copy. Therefore, for those who see business models and novel products that are available abroad but not available in China, they have many advantages over their domestic compatriots. They can use this information gap to make a lot of money. At the same time, companies are also very I hope we can introduce such talents. Therefore, during that period, people suddenly discovered that overseas returnees were very popular. With the same undergraduate degree, the same major, and the same position, those who had studied in British and American countries had higher wages than domestic graduates. The greatest destiny of a person is the era in which he lives. Some people are really not smarter than others, but they may change their destiny just because they went abroad and saw some things that others have not seen. When I say this, I am not exaggerating at all. Chinese people are very, very smart. After the country relaxed the policy of studying abroad at one's own expense, the craze for studying abroad exploded. This wave of dividends continued into the past few years.
After that, we come to the situation that our current generation is facing. The speed of information dissemination is unprecedentedly fast. When Da Mao and Er Mao fight, we here will soon know about it; as soon as the new president of Kimchi Country comes out, we all know about it. At the same time, due to the improvement of various infrastructures, the threshold for starting a business has been continuously lowered, and many full-time and part-time people have poured into all walks of life. Various resources have become cheaper and cheaper, which has given those who rely on organizational resources to meet their needs. Opportunities are provided to people with their own ambitions. For example, Mr. Wang, the partners I work with may come from a third-tier city in northwest China, a new first-tier city in central China, or a second-tier city in east China. By integrating their resources and adding some of their own core competencies, a product is created that can meet the needs of customers.
Times have never been as beautiful as today, and everyone can become a department that directly serves the entire society. But the backside of beauty is difficulty. The difficulty is - no one has an obvious information gap anymore. Competition is becoming fierce at a speed visible to the naked eye, so everyone has found that in recent years, many products and projects have become more and more homogeneous. As soon as a trend emerges, a large number of competitors rush forward, and some even rush in with good financing. , as if he would not give up until he killed his competitors. The market is becoming more and more crowded, there are more and more competitors, and the cycle is getting shorter and shorter.
The fundamental reason here is that you know the hot spots, and I also know that there is no shortage of resources. If you can do the project, why can't I do it? At this point, we have answered the question in the title, and also answered some people’s questions: Why has the value of college degrees devalued so much in recent years? Why are international students no longer popular?
Okay, we have made the situation clear. The next question is how to break the situation?
To be honest, Student Wang has read a lot of books, read a lot of videos and articles, but has not found a good solution. If we were to list them all, it would be a huge topic. I can only list a few common methods and my own thoughts, hoping to inspire others:
1. Win with absolute resource advantage. For example, in the industry where Mr. Wang works, there are many players who enter the field with huge amounts of funds, referred to as RMB players. They use higher bids to seize traffic and use loss-making sales prices to seize users. As long as they can survive the losses, Just continue to lose money until all other competitors can no longer bear it. After exiting the market, you can then raise the price to make a profit. But Wang himself still thinks there are problems with this model. First, can the price war end before the end of this product’s life cycle? Second, if after you raise your price, new and powerful competitors enter, will you start a new round of price war? Third, the more money you invest, the greater the pressure you will have to recover the money in the future. Is the opportunity cost cost-effective? The above questions are not easy to answer. This is also the fundamental reason why Mr. Wang is determined not to participate in the price war. (In addition, from the perspective of the entire market, Mr. Wang is in favor of price wars between merchants. I will write an article to explain the specific reasons)
2. Rather than being the best, it is better to be different. Some people say, how about we stop competing in one direction and do something completely different. This method may last for a relatively long time, but you still underestimate the speed of discovery and plagiarism by your compatriots. About a year ago, I was chatting with a friend who was an audiologist in China. They say that today’s big data tools are already very powerful. On xyin, as long as a certain product is quickly mass-produced (you can set the parameters yourself), their big data tools can capture it within five minutes. If the product is a public model (meaning that anyone can sell it) product), they will start selling this product immediately and quickly find the corresponding manufacturer. A public model product has a dividend cycle of just over five minutes on the existing sales platform. If this product is a private model (referring to a product that only some people can sell), it doesn't matter. They will contact the manufacturer immediately to produce it. Within seven days, similar products can be produced from the factory and start selling. The product dividend cycle is almost seven days. a little. You have to believe in domestic rivals’ plagiarism and industrial production speed. After listening, I quickly drank water to calm down my shock, and basically gave up the idea of ??going domestic.
3. Patent protection. Some people will say, if you dare to copy my products, I will sue you! I just want to say, don’t scare me here. It is not the first day for everyone to come out to join society, let alone China, even those well-known people in Europe and the United States In a country with perfect industrial protection, it is not difficult at all to bypass patents on most products, okay?
4. Cognitive depth. In this regard, I think the best ones are the parent companies of XYin and TikTok. Their algorithms are indeed very powerful. Although I hate their products very much, it does not prevent me from liking their algorithms very much. There are many companies at home and abroad that are engaged in the field of short videos. X Yin does not have the most data. The number of Facebook users far exceeds the population of China. At this stage, the most successful one is X Yin. The core point of this is that Zhang Yiming’s algorithm is indeed powerful. What do people like? How to recommend it to others? He has a deeper understanding of his own, which distances him from other products on this most fundamental point. Of course, xyin does provide considerable support to creators, but I think this is not the most important thing.
In many industries, especially high-tech industries, it is difficult for one person with 100 points and 1,000 people with 90 points to use China's traditional "three stooges to support each other". Zhuge Liang's algorithm was used to convert. The former and the latter are most likely related to 1 and 0. Although I advocate the 80-20 rule, I do not recommend that you slack off at all when it comes to your main business. The era in which the gap between top elites and ordinary people is getting wider and wider is approaching.
The above are all that Wang can think of so far. If you have other insights, please share them in the comment area below. ?
I currently do not have a complete method for how to systematically improve my cognitive depth. If someone insists on asking me, I can only answer, "Well... the Malatang restaurant downstairs in my house is very delicious. Do you want to try it?"
I wish you bravery and diligence, and a happy heart. All your wishes come true. ?
