Give up the patent to save the doctor.

Leukemia, commonly known as hematologic cancer, is a malignant clonal disease of hematopoietic stem cells. There are a large number of leukemia cells in the blood and bones of leukemia patients, which occupy the position of hematopoietic cells, making the patient's body lose hematopoietic function and eventually die in pain. For many years, doctors all over the world have been looking for ways to treat leukemia, but God never shuts one door but he opens another. A doctor in China who has been studying for many years has finally found a cure for leukemia. His name is Wang.

1924, Wang was born in a well-off family in Shanghai. My father is the manager of Anping Insurance Company, with a well-off family and strict family education. In addition, Wang has seven brothers and sisters. The whole family lives in a small house with three floors and lives a happy and prosperous life. However, when he was 7 years old, his grandmother unfortunately caught a cold and died after long-term treatment. Since then, the ideal of studying medicine has been established. /kloc-at the age of 0/8, Wang, who had excellent academic performance, got the opportunity to enter Aurora University without examination. He remembered his oath in those days and chose medicine without hesitation.

After graduation, Wang put on his beloved white coat. When the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea broke out, Wang joined the medical team to resist US aggression and aid Korea. As the attending physician of the internal medicine itinerant medical team of the Northeast Military Region, he went to the rear hospital of Boli County, Heilongjiang Province to treat the wounded. Later, due to the timely treatment of more than 60 volunteers suffering from paragonimiasis, Wang was awarded the honor of Second Class of China People's Liberation Army. After the war, Wang returned to Guangci Hospital to study hematology.

A few years later, Wang met a huge problem in his life: leukemia. 1959 Wang, who has made great breakthroughs continuously, confidently put forward the slogan of "conquering leukemia within three years", and he wants to conquer technical problems in a short time. However, with the death of more than 60 leukemia patients, Wang finally realized how naive his thoughts were. Therefore, Wang learned from a painful experience and devoted himself to studying the knowledge ocean of leukemia. Wandering life didn't stop Wang. He always took defeating leukemia as his lifelong goal.

1983 Wang was inspired by American experts' papers, and a leukemia cell named "acute promyelocytic granulocyte" appeared, which was induced by "13 cis retinoic acid" and turned into a normal cell. However, China could not synthesize "13 cis retinoic acid" at that time, and Wang only used "all-trans retinoic acid" as a substitute for the experiment. After half a year, Wang made a breakthrough. Under the action of all-trans retinoic acid, "acute promyelocytic" successfully differentiated into normal cells.

One day in 1985, Wang met a 5-year-old girl with leukemia. After a week of chemotherapy, the girl's condition has not improved. So, Wang risked his reputation and tried to ask the little girl's family if they wanted to try his new medicine-a bottle of 30 pills 13 yuan. The girl's parents acted like a dead horse and followed Wang's advice. A week later, the 5-year-old girl successfully cured leukemia by taking all-trans retinoic acid orally.

Later, Wang found patients with similar conditions, and rescued 24 leukemia patients successively, with a cure rate of over 90%. After a great success, Wang published his research results in the authoritative international journal of hematology, Blood, which shocked the world medical community. A few years later, Wang once again found that arsenic oxide was more effective than all-trans retinoic acid, and the cure rate could reach 95%.

It is respectable that although Wang developed a specific drug for leukemia, he gave up the patent. He wants people all over the world to buy life-saving drugs for 13 yuan. 1994, Wang was awarded the Kettering Prize by the American General Company, which was equivalent to the Nobel Prize in the international oncology field. He was also the first person in China to win this honor. Today, Wang is a 96-year-old man, but he is still committed to the study of leukemia and has never stopped.
