Collection resources of Shihezi University Library

There is currently 1 main library, 3 branch libraries, and 20 professional libraries. It has a total area of ??52,000 square meters, 5,066 reading seats, a total collection of 3 million books, and more than 40 types of databases. As of April 2013, there are 8 rooms. It includes: Document Cataloging Department, Circulation and Reading Department, Comprehensive Work Department, Information Consulting Department, Technical Services Department, Special Collections Department, Reader Services Department, Document Resource Construction Department and Administrative Office. It has 2 sites, 3 centers, and 2 member libraries: Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Science and Technology Novelty Search Station, National Science and Technology Library and Documentation Center (NSTL) Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Service Station, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Intellectual Property Information Center, and Local Patent Information Service Center, University Digital Library International Cooperation Program (CADAL) Xinjiang Corps Service Center, member library of China Higher Education Documentation Security System (CALIS), member library of China University Humanities and Social Sciences Documentation Center (CASHL).

According to the establishment and professional characteristics of Shihezi University’s ten major disciplines: agriculture, medicine, engineering, economics, management, liberal arts, science, law, education, and history, the library maintains the principle of ensuring focus and taking care of the general Next, the books and periodicals ordered basically meet the teaching and scientific research needs of the teachers and students of the school. The library of Shihezi University has a collection of more than 3 million volumes of Chinese and foreign books and periodicals, with annual subscriptions of more than 3,000 Chinese and foreign language periodicals and 180 kinds of newspapers. It has purchased Chinese and foreign electronic books and periodical databases such as Wanfang, VIP, CNKI, Springer LINK, and SDOS. There are more than 40 kinds of digital resources, and we have self-built the "Xinjiang Cotton Plant Protection Database" and "Shihezi University Dissertation Database"; and have established data exchange relationships with more than 1,000 domestic units; the museum's collections include "Sikuquanshu" and "Handed Books" ", "China Reconstruction Rare Book" and many other precious documents.

The Special Collections Department of Shihezi University Library was established in March 2011. It was formed by merging the original Corps Materials Library and the Ancient Books Library, adding resources of Central Asian documents and treasured documents. In accordance with the school's educational orientation of "based on the Xinjiang Corps, serving Xinjiang, facing the whole country, and radiating to Central Asia", the Special Collections Department, while serving the university's scientific research, takes the historical mission of preserving and inheriting documents from various places as its own responsibility and obligation. Since its establishment, the Special Collections Department has done a lot of basic work in the collection, sorting, development, utilization and protection of Xinjiang Corps documents, Xinjiang settlement and border garrison documents, Central Asian documents, and ancient books and documents, and has positioned the collection features as “Xinjiang Corps documents, Chinese Mainly Asian literature, supplemented by ancient books and rare documents."
