New coating: A chemical company in Chicago, USA, developed a new coating that can reduce air resistance. When this coating is applied to the surface of an object, a dense coating film will be formed on the surface of the coated object. Under the microscope, the coating film is arranged like a streamlined fish scale. When this coating is applied to airplanes, cars, trains or other vehicles, it can reduce the air resistance and fuel consumption when driving. Research shows that a very smooth surface is not the best choice in airflow and water flow. Skin with fine particles like sharks is actually more conducive to sliding in the water. Similarly, such skin should be more aerodynamic than smooth skin. Researchers hope that in the future, cars, ships and planes will be coated with such a "rough" surface to reduce resistance and save fuel.
new injection system: Renault of France presented the concept car "Altic" at the 76th international Geneva motor show. The car is equipped with a "Synthetic Jet" system that can reduce air resistance. The patent of this technology is owned by Renault, France, which can adjust the turbulent airflow behind the vehicle when it is separated from the roof at high speed. The system is designed with a gap with a width of 2mm at the rear end of the roof, and the air flowing into the gap from the roof will be intermittently ejected when it meets the diaphragm embedded in the gap. In this way, the airflow can be prevented from leaving the roof, and the turbulence generated at the rear of the vehicle can be reduced, thus achieving the purpose of reducing the air resistance. When the vehicle speed reaches 13km/h, the air resistance can be reduced by 15% when the power consumption of the injection system is 1W.
