Although the mainstream TF memory cards on the market have obviously improved in speed, unfortunately, due to the uneven quality of TF cards, most flagship mobile phones still do not support memory card expansion as standard. Huawei independently developed a faster and smaller NM memory card, which enabled Huawei's flagship mobile phone to support the expansion of memory cards again, and better solved the pain point that users need to spend hundreds of yuan to buy large memory mobile phones.
Just talking about Huawei NM card, then, what is Huawei NM card? NM card is the abbreviation of nano sim card. Huawei NM card makes the memory card as big as the nano sim card, and smaller than the traditional TF memory card, which can be directly placed in the nano sim card slot of the mobile phone. Therefore, for the body of the smart phone, it is easier to insert the phone than the TF card. However, Huawei's NM card was only made by Huawei officials before, so it is more secure in quality than TF card. Therefore, Huawei's flagship mobile phones, such as Mate20 and Mate30 of Mate series, also support NM memory cards, while P30 of P series, nova6SE and Nova5 Pro of Nova series can support storage expansion of NM cards.
This has also spawned more Huawei users' demand for NM cards. In addition to Huawei's official NM card, Lei Kesha also obtained the relevant patent authorization from Huawei, and launched the first third-party brand NM card, namely nCARD of Lei Kesha. Although some brands have introduced NM cards in the market before, Huawei's latest Mate30 series mobile phones cannot be used without Huawei's authorization. As the shoulder of the storage industry, let's take a look at this nCARD mobile phone memory card launched in Lei Kesha today. How is its performance?
Let's talk about price first. For a tech geek, choosing digital products, cost performance is always the first factor I consider. The mobile phone used by the author is Nova5 Pro of Huawei Nova series, which is a flagship mobile phone with very good cost performance launched last year. At that time, the 8+ 128Gb version was selected. For the author, because I usually take a lot of photos, WeChat will take up a lot of storage space for a long time, so I urgently need to expand some memory. So the target is a 256Gb NM memory card. After comparing the 256Gb version of Huawei NM card with the 256 GB version of nCARD in Lei Kesha, the price of the former is 669 yuan, while the price of nCARD card in Lei Kesha is 599 yuan. I checked the relevant information, and the speed of the two is almost the same, and my SLR memory card has always used Lei Kesha, so after comprehensive consideration, I finally chose NCARD from Lei Kesha, which looks more beautiful.
After I got it, to be honest, it was my first contact with the NM card. Compared with TF card, the package is smaller, and the overall black and white color scheme looks very high-end. The 90MB/s reading speed with gold plating on the front is very eye-catching.
In order to let people see the scale of nCARD in Lei Kesha more intuitively, I put a TF card marked nCARD in Lei Kesha in my hand, and we can see that the scale of nCARD is much smaller. According to the official specifications, the size of microSD card is15×1×1mm, and the size of NM card (nCARD) is 12.3×8.8×0.7mm, which is also the size specification of nano sim card. In terms of body shape, nCARD card is obviously more dominant.
On the back, we put TF card, nano sim card and Lei Kesha nCARD card together, and we can see that the interface difference between TF card and nCARD card is quite large, so it is almost impossible for some users to transform TF card into nCARD card by "cutting cards". TF card adopts gold finger design, and there are a lot of blank areas on the back of the card. NCARD card adopts gold sole design, and like nano sim card, the contacts cover almost the whole back.
In addition, the author also purchased Huawei's official NM card reader. Although Huawei launched the NM card as early as 20 18, the NM card reader that can be selected on the market at present is still the official brand of Huawei. Moreover, this card reader also supports both NM card and TF card, which is more convenient to use. The maximum reading speed reaches 100MB/s, and the price is 99 yuan, which is actually a little expensive compared with a card reader.
Next, let's test the performance of the memory card. According to the official description, the maximum reading speed of nCARD in Lei Kesha is 90MB/s, and the writing speed is 70 MB/s. The NM card is inserted into the card reader, and the speed is measured by the mainstream speed measuring software on the PC side. First, we measure the speed through the ATTO disk benchmark. The measured results show that the maximum reading speed of nCARD in Lei Kesha is 9 1MB/s and the maximum writing speed is 76MB/s, which is better than the official speed.
In order to show nCARD's performance in Lei Kesha more objectively, we tested the speed with CrystalDiskMark. The measured results show that the reading speed is 88.8 1MB/s, the maximum writing speed is 7 1. 16mb/s, the random reading performance is 1 1.86MB/s and the writing speed is 2/kloc-0. Judging from two professional speed measuring software, the performance of this memory card is very good, especially in the aspect of random writing speed, which is better than most traditional TF cards. The random writing speed as high as 2 1MB/s also enables Lei Kesha nCARD to shoot 1080P HD video or even 4K video in Huawei smartphones, which can realize faster shooting, recording, playing and film storage.
Of course, whether it works or not, we still need to plug Lei Kesha nCARD into our mobile phone to experience it. As far as installation is concerned, it is quite simple. I use Huawei Nova 5Pro. Take out the card slot with the card needle and put nCARD into the card slot. However, if you are a dual SIM card user, it may not be suitable for extended storage. After all, it will occupy a SIM card slot.
We use AndroBench, the mainstream speed measuring software on mobile phones, to test: the test results of nCARD 256GB in Lei Kesha show that sequential reading is 83.3MB/s, sequential writing is 70.87mb/s, random reading 1 1.85MB/s and random writing18.3. By measuring the speed on the computer, we can see that the performance of this Lei Kesha nCARD is still excellent.
In terms of practical use, for large consumers who consume storage, for the camera that comes with the system, priority can be given to storing photos and videos in the memory card in daily use. The actual test shows that the mobile phone can take pictures very quickly in both continuous shooting mode and RAW mode. Including recording 4K video, it is completely non-stuck, and its performance is outstanding, comparable to the memory that comes with the fuselage. The capacity of 256GB also allows us to shoot 4K video without worrying about occupying capacity. Moreover, it is more convenient to export the video to the computer, and it is more in line with the daily habit of the author, a technical geek, to export it through a card reader.
In the end, nCARD introduced by Lei Kesha, as an officially authorized memory card, has advantages over Huawei's official NM card in terms of price and higher cost performance. In terms of performance, it has to be said that nCARD in Lei Kesha benefits from its absolute advantage in random reading and writing performance, which is four to five times ahead of the traditional TF card. For smart phones, it is also more suitable for mobile phones to take photos and record videos.
However, the NM card will occupy one slot of the Nano SIM card, so it is not suitable for dual-card users. On the contrary, I also hope that Huawei mobile phones can support two SIM cards and one NM card at the same time. Isn't this more perfect?
Anyway, Huawei is willing to license the patent of the NM card to a third party, and Lei Kesha, as the first licensor, has also introduced the NM card with better quality and cheaper price for the majority of pollen users. I think it is our consumers who benefit the most. We also hope that more storage vendors can bring us benefits. Let the NM card also have the same cost performance as the traditional micro SD card.
