1. Paris Pact approach:
2. Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) method:
Ways to apply for a patent for appearance and required documents: including the Paris Convention way and the way to apply directly to the United States.
Paris Convention: After filing an application in China and before the expiration of 6 months from the date of the first prior patent application (i.e. the priority date), you can enjoy the priority treatment and need to submit the priority certificate.
There are three ways to apply for a patent in the United States:
1. Apply for a patent directly to the United States (confidentiality review is required in China Patent Office in advance, and you can apply for a patent directly to the United States after the confidentiality review is passed);
2. Apply for a patent in the United States through the Paris Convention (the priority is only 12 months);
Third, apply for a patent in the United States through the PCT Patent Cooperation Treaty (priority can reach 30 months).
In addition, applying for US patents through PCT Patent Cooperation Treaty can get subsidies from the Ministry of Finance, and applying for US patents through other channels can usually get financial support from local governments at all levels from provinces to districts.
