In fact, this is due to historical reasons, because most of the patents for 6AT gearboxes are in the hands of several major gearboxes, the most typical ones being Aisin and ZF. Even Volkswagen is looking to Aisin to buy a 6AT gearbox. It's not that Volkswagen can't make it, but it's just that it takes too much effort to bypass those rules and regulations, and the effect may not be good, so Volkswagen chose to build a dual-clutch gearbox. Similarly, Honda and Nissan decided to engage in CVT transmissions. Of course, many major manufacturers choose to build 6AT. For example, GM's 6AT has developed into the third generation, and Hyundai's Mobis' 6AT also has a good reputation. Mazda bet on 6AT, designed it independently, and then found Aisin, Jetco and other large manufacturers to manufacture it.
Compared Volkswagen has less R&D investment in domestically produced cars than Nissan, and even less R&D in 6AT. For example, Great Wall and Geely choose to engage in dual-clutch, while Chery chooses to engage in CVT. Because DCT and CVT have fewer patent barriers, Volkswagen and Nissan can make good use of them, as the technology is mature and the cost is low. . Then there is the adjustment of the AT gearbox, which is also a problem. After all, due to mechanical performance limitations, the transmission efficiency of the AT gearbox is not as high as that of the CVT. In theory, it can simulate unlimited gears and has a wider economic range. Therefore, 6AT and CVT in the same level, as well as dual-clutch ratios, have higher fuel consumption. For example, the Toyota Corolla Ralink has been replaced with a CVT, so the cost is lower. Secondly, the fuel consumption regulations are too high. Strictly speaking, CVT can reduce fuel consumption after all. Hyundai also gave up the well-respected 6AT and chose CVT.
As for why the Cavalier is equipped with 6AT, because most mainstream compact cars are now equipped with 6AT. Or a CVT dual-clutch gearbox, it would be ridiculous to equip it with a 4AT. The Cavalier is backed by GM’s ready-made 6AT gearbox, so I just used it. As for why it sells for 70,000, it’s not because it’s very conscientious, but because it can’t be sold without lowering the price. . The price of the Cavalier starts at 90,000 yuan. Because it is not comparable to Volkswagen and Japanese cars, it comes down to this price. After all, Chinese people don’t like three-cylinder engines more than dual-clutch engines.
Personally. 6AT is nothing to brag about. After all, this 6AT from GM is not much better in terms of reputation. Even Aixin's 6AT is used by many domestic cars, but Toyota doesn't like it very much. It has a CVT, so it’s not as crazy as many people say. At least the Cavalier’s 6AT does not promote the domestic DCTCVT of the same level. In general, the fuel consumption control of the 6AT is not as good as that of the CVT. The shifting speed is not as good as that of DCT. Moreover, its cost is relatively high and the patent barriers are serious. Domestic cars have not put much effort into the development of 6AT. Of course, because of the long development time and mature technology, the reliability of 6AT is still very good. < /p>
