Humanities: Regarding the description of the human condition, the essence of the subject is "beauty" and it is a "study of living in the world", which can only be justified. It mainly includes three categories: literature, history and philosophy.
Social science: a normative theory about the relationship between people. The essence of the subject is "goodness", which belongs to the "study of governing the world" and can be optimized through practice. It mainly includes four categories: law, politics, economics and society.
Zi Ke: A summary of the laws of the world in which human beings live. The essence of the subject is "truth", which belongs to the "study of the world" and is constantly innovated through verification. It mainly includes the major categories of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology (whether mathematics is a natural science is controversial), as well as derived engineering and technology disciplines.
According to my country’s liberal arts and sciences subject system, students studying humanities and social sciences are called liberal arts students. Humanities and social sciences are also generally referred to as "liberal arts". In fact, there are differences between humanities and social sciences.
One difference is the research object. Humanities, as the name suggests, is the study of "people". It is to study and research human cultural heritage and explore the value and meaning of human existence. The subject of inquiry is people and their spirit, culture, psychology, etc. It is the study and research of the dialectical relationship between people and objective facts. The research object of social science is human society. (The difference between human society and "people" is very big. I can't understand the difference between us as individuals and our country's political parties.) It is an analysis and study of the development process, development direction, organizational form, etc. of human society. Political science, law, and economics are all social sciences.
The second difference is the research method. For the humanities, it is mainly about the explanation of meaning and spiritual enlightenment, while the social sciences are more closely related to objective facts.
In fact, the humanities and social sciences are intertwined. If you want to have a deeper understanding of the differences, you can learn about their sub-disciplines.
